I’ve never been one to follow trends blindly. For me, the foundation of any successful project lies in timeless design principles that stand the test of time. Trends, on the other hand, provide fresh inspiration and bring new energy to the creative process. These 2025 color trends offer a rich palette of tones that beautifully complement the colors I often gravitate toward in our projects.
Rather than immersing an entire space in one shade, I prefer to layer color on a clean, white canvas. Using my favorite shade of white on the walls allows each color and texture to shine, giving the space a sense of clarity and cohesion while still feeling warm and inviting. It’s this balanced approach that keeps each project feeling fresh yet timeless.
Aubergine: Bold and Sophisticated
Aubergine (French for eggplant, the color not the emoji) is making a big comeback in 2025, and I love its potential to add depth and drama to any room. This rich, dark purple hue feels both luxurious and grounding, offering a bolder alternative to more neutral tones like navy or charcoal. Aubergine works beautifully in spaces where you want to make a statement—think a dining room that’s perfect for moody, intimate gatherings, or a living room that exudes a sense of sophistication. To bring out its elegance, I’d pair aubergine with warm metals like brass or gold and layer in textures like velvet or leather. It’s also stunning against lighter neutrals like cream or soft gray, which allow this shade to stand out without overwhelming the space. Aubergine is a color that embraces warmth and confidence, making it perfect for those who want their space to feel uniquely refined and inviting. It works well as a sofa, accent pillows, on a wallpaper design or as accessories.
Future Dusk: Moody and Dreamlike
Future Dusk is an online-documented standout shade for 2025, and I’m absolutely captivated by its depth and mystery. This color sits somewhere between blue, gray, and purple, creating a moody, dreamlike atmosphere that feels both calming and luxurious. It has a way of transforming a room, making it feel like a cozy cocoon—perfect for spaces where you want to slow down and relax. I’m especially drawn to using Future Dusk in a bedroom or even a home library, where its rich tone can make the space feel intimate and enveloping. Paired with soft, warm lighting and textured fabrics like velvet or linen, Future Dusk creates an ambiance that’s equal parts soothing and sophisticated. It’s a color that invites you to escape the hustle and bustle, bringing a touch of tranquility and elegance into any space.
Forest Green: Grounded and Natural
I usually gravitate towards grass green when looking for a sophisticated bright- but forest green walks the perfect line between that and a more glam emerald green. It’s a rich, earthy green that feels calm and cozy, yet vibrant—ideal for creating a fresh, bright space where you want to feel grounded and connected. Moss green walls in the living room or a secondary or child’s bedroom bring a touch of the outdoors inside, especially when paired with natural wood finishes and soft, neutral accents.
To keep it balanced, I’d pair it with warm, creamy whites and of course some black accents to add definition and keep it sharp.
Clay Pink: Soft, Warm, and Inviting
There’s something about clay pink that feels so warm and welcoming, somewhere between blush and cognac, this shade brings a bit of color without being overpowering. Used in a bedroom or home office creates a soft, feminine vibe that still feels sophisticated.
It’s a shade that really shines when paired with other warm tones, like beige and tan, and I love how it looks with metallic accents like copper or brass. Adding clay pink through textiles—maybe a throw blanket or some pillows—would be an easy way to bring warmth to a room without committing to a full wall of color. A lighter version evokes nide skin, and that is a shade we used often. This darker iteration is a bolder approach, and we are down for it.
Sunset Orange: Playful and Energizing
I’ll admit, sunset orange is a bit brighter than what I usually go for, but I’m drawn to its warmth and energy. It’s a vibrant, almost fiery orange that’s perfect for social spaces where you want a pop of color and personality. I can see this working beautifully in a dining room or kitchen, where a splash of color can add to the lively, welcoming atmosphere.
We might try an accent wall in this shade, or maybe just a few smaller touches like throw pillows, a cashmere blanket or a rug. Sunset orange feels fresh, yet it still has gravitas, recalling the shade of a certain luxury brand ‘s famous packaging.
Dusk Blue: Calm and Mystical
Dusk blue is a shade that’s easy to incorporate—it’s like a soft, dreamy gray blue that brings a sense of calm wherever it goes. This color reminds me of the sky just after sunset, which gives it a kind of mystique and depth. For me, dusk blue feels perfect for a bedroom or a quiet reading nook, where you can relax and unwind.
I’m envisioning dusk blue furnishings paired with soft textures to keep things airy and serene, and some black and bone details. I also love the idea of mixing in some brushed gold accents to add a touch of sophistication to the space.
Slate Grey: Modern and Versatile
Grey is a classic, but in 2025, it’s all about slate grey with its deeper, moodier undertones. It’s a great way to add sophistication without making a space feel dark or closed-in. Slate grey feels versatile enough to work in any room, and it pairs well with nearly every color scheme, from vibrant jewel tones to earthy neutrals. It’s the perfect shade for a sleek, sophisticated penthouse, combined with lots of tinted glass, mirrored surfaces and modern fireplaces.
Slate grey also works wonders as a grounding color in a kitchen as cabinetry. It’s a color that doesn’t scream for attention, but it has enough presence to tie a room together, especially when paired with soft whites and reflective surfaces.
2025’s color trends are all about vibrant yet earthy tones. I’m looking forward to experimenting with these colors, creating spaces that feel grounded, inspiring, and completely unique. Of course, whatever the shade, I’ always insist on touches of black and white to achieve what I call ‘the balance of interiors.’
Here’s to a year of embracing color and making our homes a true reflection of our personalities.
